Sunlight & Shadow
digital

A woman bends her paper wings down to her sides to protect her vampire lover from the onslaught of the morning sunlight. He hides in her shadow as best he can, but every slight ray of light causes him pain.

An entry for the 2009 Wacom "Good vs. Evil" contest on DeviantArt.

I like to question the definitions of good and evil, and especially of "light" and "darkness" that are so commonly used as symbols of those. Here the light is the Evil, bringing death to the woman's lover, and her love shading him and protecting him is the True Good. We must learn to see the difference between our judgements and predjudices and what is truly evil. The same thing applies to things that are sterotyped into being "good".
