In a world very, very far in the future, our society has collapsed and a new culture, based on mere remnants of our time, has arisen. Nuclear sideffects have caused many animals to evolve into semi-human forms. The Stag Clan lives far away from the human cities, in the woods, and has their own culture. But every few generations, the Stag Prince must return to the human city, where he will choose a human bride to keep the Stags' bloodline strong. It is a great honor among humans to be chosen as the Stag Prince's bride, but it is not a very coveted honor. Except by one woman: a priestess who has had a dream about the Stag Prince's coming, and finds she is in love with the mysterious beast.
