Note: a great many depictions that you see of the zodiac sign Capricorn are simply a plain goat or mountain goat. As a Capricorn myself, I always find this mistake rather annoying. At least one astrology book that I've read noted that while Capricorns have a very hard-nosed side that they present to the world, they also often have a creative and even whimsical side. Thus the Capricorn is an animal divided between earth and water, with the ability to climb the highest mountains, but also swim to the deepest depths. I should mention, on that note, that Jody Bergsma has done an absolutely fabulous painting of the Capricorn, the most beautiful one I've ever seen!
