The first of several fantasy men (leading up to a calendar). This is the angel Magnael, but he is not a traditional angel. He is the spirit of the evergreen plants, such as holly, mistletoe, magnolia, and conifer trees, that we use to decorate during "the holidays." Originally a pagan tradition at Winter Solstice, the Christians adopted it, and rightly so, for the bringing of evergreens into the home symbolizes new life beginning in the seemingly dead time of winter.

Magnael walks through the snowy forest of redwoods and conifers, his living staff blossoming despite the snow. He stands silent as he looks towards us, but his eyes beckon us to come to him, to walk with him deeper into the enchanted woods.

By the way this is one of my first all-digital paintings. All I did outside the computer was the original sketch. I'm still learning, but I think it came out quite well.
