At last the man returns to his true love, and they live together in the shallows of the surface, safe from the cliffs and the depths alike, as happy together as anyone can be.

The answer to all is Balance. A healthy inner life is lived by balancing the Darkness and the Light and finding the good in both, and the happiest of lives is finding a kindred spirit, who understands that balance as well, to share it with.
