Blue Dress Riddle
aquatint etching print

In my Printmaking class our last assignment was a print run that would be shared with our whole class and the "neighboring" screenprint class. The theme of the project was "blue print."
The devil in a blue dress represents an independent woman, a femme fatale, strong yet beautiful, and not good and sweet and innocent, but not necessarily evil either.
The text reads: "Riddle: A wound that is open even when you have not been stabbed. A wound that bleeds but not to kill. This wound brings life not death, and almost everyone who's wounded wants to be stabbed. Here's the riddle: Why do they treat it like a wound, as if those of us who have it are lame? We must be proud of our blood and not let this wound cause us pain!"
